A History of the Long Bay Residents’ Association
Our journey began in early 2014, with Long Bay Communities Ltd setting up the framework and guidelines for the Long Bay Residents’ Association (LBRA). By May 1, 2014, the LBRA was officially recognised as an incorporated society. Initially, the Todd Property Group managed the LBRA, with their staff serving as Directors for Long Bay Communities Ltd. However, a significant change took place on July 19, 2015, during the Annual General Meeting (AGM), when the LBRA was formally transferred to a new board. This new leadership included Fraser Hawkings, Marie Edlington, Susheel Maharaj, and Kai Yin, marking a new chapter for the association.
Over the years, the Long Bay Residents’ Association (LBRA) has been actively involved in various community activities and events, striving to address concerns and foster engagement among residents. Since its establishment, LBRA has played a pivotal role in organizing events such as Christmas celebrations, community clean-up days, and cultural festivals. Additionally, the association has been proactive in addressing issues such as road safety, neighborhood maintenance, and local governance.
Key highlights include the annual Christmas Lights Competition, Halloween events, and regular community clean-up initiatives. LBRA has also facilitated meetings and discussions with local authorities, including Hibiscus & Bays Local Board and Auckland Transport and, to address traffic concerns, neighborhood development, and other community-related issues.
Furthermore, LBRA has conducted surveys, forums, and public meetings to gather residents’ feedback and concerns, ensuring a collaborative approach to community development. Through its efforts, LBRA has successfully engaged residents in various initiatives, fostering a sense of community and collective responsibility within Long Bay.
