Member Update February 2024

With February being the month where things crank back into action, we’ve been working on several initiatives, and some exciting events are coming up! Of special note is our Cultural Shared Meal & Jenga Competition on the 16th of March, see details in this email.

Last month, we engaged with multiple stakeholders, including the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board on a variety of topics, Long Bay schools, Long Bay Village/Viranda, the Long Bay Chinese Association including attending their Lunar New Year Festival, Restore Hibiscus and Bays with regards to traps and bait station initiatives, Auckland Transport & Police on local issues … and more. Many residents have expressed concerns about the Council’s decision to remove public rubbish bins. If you have issues about the removal of a specific bin please email us. Others asked about the maintenance of the stormwater pond opposite the Long Bay Surf Club. It is designed to be desilted, and this is being done in line with resource consent, by the developer at their cost before it’s handed over to council/Healthy Waters to manage.

It has been a busy time!

In addition, we’ve been working hard on enhancing the efficiency of LBRA through improved systems and processes.

Exciting news! We’ve launched a new website! Check it out at https://longbay.nz

Currently, we’re seeking sponsors for the website. If you’re interested, please reach out or spread the word to businesses.

If you’d like to support us financially to cover operational and event costs, you can donate through the website by clicking the Donate button. We accept payments via credit card and other methods.
