Member Update January 2024

The year has started with some fantastic weather especially recently – Long Bay is a great place for summer weather!

The Long Bay Residents’ Association board is back on deck with our recent first meeting of the year having all board members present – great stuff! Here’s a photo from late last year where we managed to get a group photo.

The end of the 2023 year saw our final Community Cleanup which we run each quarter, with the next one scheduled for March 16th – we’re looking forward to that as our new LBRA hi-viz vests should be arriving soon, thanks to sponsorship from New World Long Bay.
Additionally our annual Christmas Lights competition was popular and it was great to see the amazing efforts from Long Bay residents and prize winners. Our overall winner posted this video.

Thank you to Birds of a Feather, Long Bay Surf Club, Long Bay Barber Shop, and Bloom Beauty & Wellness for generously supplying the fantastic vouchers. Special thanks to Keerti at The Studio in Long Bay for adding a touch of glamour with a 20-min photography shoot for our Most Festive Pet winner!

Looking forward to 2024, we’re into planning for a number of events including Mix + Mingles, a Jenga event, and there are quite a few events happening around Long Bay!
Including:
Long Bay Food Truck series by the Food Truck Collective: 4pm – 9pm Friday 2nd February, Saturday 9th March, Thursday 5th April.
Lunar New Year event – Sat 18th February at Long Bay College.

Behind the scenes in the latter part of last year, with a focus on partnerships and communications, we had various discussions and meetings with local council, community groups/organisations and specific interest groups. Topics include items such as the Vaughans Road closure and the related increase in undesirable activities around that area, land owned by council / Templeton and future plans, plus activities we can target for regeneration and green space/parks, and other local initiatives!

Looking forward to a fun and event filled 2024!
