Member Update July 2024

Hi LBRA Members and locals,

In July it was a slightly cooler month including for LBRA, but still plenty going on behind the scenes!

Vaughans Road Closure: Auckland Transport (AT) Report to Hibiscus and Bays Local Board

One of the outcomes we’d been waiting for was the forward plan for Vaughans Road, with the options report from AT finally being presented at a Hibiscus and Bays Local Board (HBLB) workshop on 16th July. Unfortunately, the Vaughans Road Closure is to remain in place. No viable funded options were presented. AT will attempt to re-work an option to meet a $2 million funding limit and return to present option(s) again in the future with no timeframe given.

LBRA is actively working to find out more in relation to this, we’ll report back when we hear more!

Activations following Regreening Long Bay Workshops

Following on from the successful Regreening Long Bay Workshops in June (see our June Update), and our Imagining Te Oneroa ō Kahu (Long Bay) workshop we’ve had a few activities with residents getting involved in weeding, planting and pest control. Please get in touch if you would like to volunteer in this space as we have more activities coming up including an Ideas to Action workshop. For pest control, if you haven’t already please fill out our LBRA Pest Control Survey at http://bit.ly/lbrapest.

    • Further discussions related to rough sleepers/homelessness
  • Auckland Transport – feedback thanking LBRA for its submission to the draft RLTP
  • Templeton Group – discussions on the numbers of properties in Long Bay (currently approx 1,442 increasing to 2000+). Confirmation relating to potential fencing infringements in Long Bay, where the properties in question were approved by Long Bay Design Approval.
