Mid-month we receive amazingly good news that the Spacenet climbing frame in the Regional Park that was previously destroyed due to vandalism will be reinstated in the coming months! We’d advocated for resolution of this, and were somewhat surprised as we had thought funding was proving to be a significant challenge. Great work by Auckland Council to get this on track!

Following coordination with the Long Bay Village Market organisers you’ll likely see LBRA flags/representation at the Long Bay Village Market going forward, be sure to drop down!

On the 20th of May an awesome event was put on by Sir Peter Blake Marine Education Centre (MERC) staff in association with Long Bay Okura Great Park Society to raise awareness of the Marine Reserve and Long Bay Regional Park, and address concerns about people fishing and taking marine life from the Marine Reserve. This seminar focussed primarily on preserving the wildlife in Marine Reserve with passionate speakers Sara Kulins (her research is here), Patrick Burnham and Yuin Khai Foong presenting their specialist areas of focus. For any compliance issues or general information call 0800 DOC HOT (0800 362468). If you would like to find out more about this event, please reply to this email.
